Why Rtc Buses Have Z on their Number Plates

Many times, you will have discovered the alphabet 'Z' in the bus number plates of our Telugu states. However, have you ever wondered why all APSRTC / TSRTC buses carried the "Z" in the Number plate?.

In fact, what you have mostly thought is that random alphabets are named. Of course, it is not a random alphabet since every bus that passes the Road Transport Corporation has the alphabet "Z" in its number plate. Let the state finally quell this doubt.

Reason for why RTC number plates have Z in them

The "Z" in the different plates represents Zahra Mohammedan, mother of the last ruler of the former state of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan, Nizam VII. In June 1932, Nizam Road Transport was established as the Nizam State Rail District with twenty-seven buses and 166 workers. In a short time, Nizam's national rail network became the Department of Rail and Road Transport of Nizam (N.S.R.R.R.T.D.).

From the first vehicle acquired, the N.S.R.R.T.D, the vehicle registration numbers contained the letter "Z" in honor of Zahra Mohammedan. And on September 17, 1948, when Nizam handed over its authority to the Indian government, one of the agreements with the Indian government stipulated that every RTC bus identification number must always be accompanied by the letter "Z".

What z on RTC bus stands for?

You can see buses that carry letters like "X", "Y", "W", "UA", "UB", etc. They are hired, buses of non-public individuals go through the RTC. These do not appear to be rtc coaches. This gentle gesture of the last governor is the reason why we tend to use the "Z" on a number plate even nowadays.
