During the first trimester, it is important to eat foods rich in iron, vitamins and folic acid, these three nutrients being essential for the development of the nervous system and helping to reduce nausea. In women who do not consume at least 600 mg of folic acid a day, the chances of a baby having neural tube defects are increased. Fruits and vegetables rich in calcium, magnesium, iron, and potassium are very important, such as broccoli, spinach, etc. Dairy products should be eaten like milk, cheese, and yogurt.

Proteins are essential for bodybuilding and you have to consume rich sources of protein such as chicken and eggs. Fish can also be eaten, however, not all fish are advised during pregnancy and it is best that you consult your nutritionist.

Carbohydrates are also necessary for energy metabolism and, therefore, whole grain foods must be consumed.

Calcium and vitamin D are very important at this stage second trimester because the baby needs strong bones and teeth. The cerebral development of the baby is essential and, therefore, the woman should increase her consumption of magnesium and omega-3 fatty acids. Again, fruits (mangoes, etc.) and vegetables (broccoli, carrots, cabbage, etc.) rich in folic acid, vitamin D, magnesium and calcium should be consumed. Dairy products rich in calcium and magnesium, such as pro-biotic yogurt, low-fat milk, low-fat cream cheese, etc., must be included in the diet.

Foods are rich in omega-3s, such as almonds, nuts, flax seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc., and brown rice containing essential carbohydrates, fortified bread, and so on.

The third-trimester diet should include foods rich in carbohydrates and vitamin K, such as leafy vegetables that help to clot blood. Vitamin K is very essential for the delivery procedure and breastfeeding. Iron is needed because it is responsible for preventing low birth rates and premature delivery.

Food types such as high-protein foods containing iron and zinc, eggs, salmon and many fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins C and A should be included in the diet.

Therefore, the following diet guidelines should be followed to avoid complication during pregnancy and have a healthy baby.

Pregnancy is really beautiful and is a very sensitive phase of a woman's life. Want to eat your favorite dish in the middle of the night, or even the day, is a perfectly normal phenomenon. Although you deserve to be pampered with your favorite food, however, there are certain foods that, no matter what cravings, you must actually avoid for the sake of that little life in you.

  • Starting with fruits, papaya and pineapple are big negatives. These fruits contain substances that produce uterine labor-inducing contractions, and therefore abortion.
  • Sesame seeds also tend to excite the uterine muscles, causing contractions that can lead to abortion. It would be wise to avoid the consumption of these substances. Other dried fruits such as raisins, dates, almonds, walnuts, pistachios can be consumed safely in moderate amounts.
  • The spices that fall into this list include fennel and fenugreek seeds. These can also induce uterine contractions.
  • Although fish is rich in omega 3 and is an important food to include in the pregnant woman's diet, the consumption of certain types of fish may not be a good idea. Here is a list of the types of fish to avoid.
  1. Fish containing mercury
  2. Smoked or chilled seafood.
  3. Fish grown in polluted waters
  4. Insufficiently cooked mollusks and shellfish. For example, clams, mussels, oysters
  • Raw eggs may be contaminated with Salmonella that can cause vomiting and diarrhea. Desserts or sauces containing raw or uncooked eggs should be avoided.
  • Any form of meat or poultry under cooked. In fact, a parasite called Toxoplasma may be present, which could cause excessive food poisoning which can, in turn, cause fetal damage or miscarriage.
  • Milk is one of the essential foods of the pregnant woman's diet. However, any kind of unpasteurized milk is strictly avoided.
  • Sprouts and raw vegetables should be avoided. However, these can be eaten if shallow fried.
  • A major disadvantage for coffee addicts is that caffeine consumption should be reduced to minimal amounts; that is, no more than one cup a day.
  1. Herbal tea
  2. supplements
  3. saccharin
  4. Canned food and street food.
There are many more little things to deal with, but this list would be useful for newly pregnant women.

In addition, some foods should not be consumed during pregnancy.
