Why Earphone Jacks Have Stripes
Stripes on headphone Jack |
what are the stripes on earphone jack
You may have noticed that all headphone jacks have 2 or 3 rings. They are not designed for decoration: These stripes run from each ring to the two earphones, and if they were not there, you could hear only the sound from one of the earphones.
There are 3 different types of rings in a headphone jack.
These stripes are non-conductive insulating rings that essentially isolate one section of the next to represent the powered components.
What are the three rings on earphone
Single Stripe Jack
Typically, a single ring means that there are two sections, so the plug is mono and reproduces the same sound in the headphones.
Two Stripes Jack
A normal stereo headphones jack will tend to have two rings creating three sections, two of which connect to the left and right speakers.
3 Ring Headphone Jack
If you have a three-ring audio jack to the unit, your device is designed to have a microphone.
