This is not necessarily the ring finger of the left hand. Blood may come from the ring finger, middle finger or forefinger of any hand, but it is best to remove it from the ring finger of the non-dominant hand (in most cases, the left hand), which is the least likely to affect our ability to perform daily activities.
You may be wondering why we do not use a finger. In fact, this would have been a better option compared to the ring finger.
Why is Ring Finger Preferred for Pricking?

However, anatomy tells us
It is best to use the ring finger or middle finger for collecting blood samples because they do not have calluses that prevent the spread of infection to the rest of the hand.
The thumb and forefinger are avoided due to the presence of calluses on these fingers, while the little finger is avoided because it has a thin tissue.
The inner lining of the thumb and little finger is directly connected to the rest of the hand. Thus, in case of infection, it can quickly spread to the entire hand.
The left hand is preferred over the right hand because for most people, the right hand is the working hand.
