"The circus strongmen of the nineteen-thirties wore" the slightly familiar and disturbing bunk-belt combo "." The underwear on the tights was signs of extra-masculine strength and endurance. all derived from circus outfits and helped showcase the performance, even freak-show-sequel aspects of Superman's adventures.
Raising bridges, stopping trains with his empty hands, fighting elephants: these were strong man exploits that took advantage of carnival skills, implicit in tight material.
Why is superman wearing his underwear outside
Now, it should be noted here that wrestlers, circus performers, and superheroes did not really wear sports underwear, but rather tight underwear over their leggings.
Since superheroes usually have an unlikely sporting talent and perform great stunts while fighting crime, it was only natural that this kind of dress is adopted by the first superhero artists for their characters.

In the early 1930s and 1940s, comic strip printing came in two forms: black and white and four colors. It is also often where we tend to take the term four-color hero. In general, comics were supposed to be as inexpensive as possible, so that they generally used the lowest quality papers of all time and were, therefore, the fastest and cheapest printing strategies.
Color printing was generally reserved for the cover page of a comic book because it was an expensive method that required the ink to be applied in four distinct steps, one for each color. the problem became that once this was done, the machines would have to run at extremely high speeds to provide enough comics and eventually become misaligned and require constant adjustment.
This is often the reason why we tend to see comics from this era with colors outside the lines. this is often very true once the color has been subsequently applied to entire comics.
